Kylie’s Glasgow concert was ‘woke and all gay’ complains straight man. What did he expect?

A straight man – let’s call him Brian, seeing as that is, apparently, his name – having attended Kylie’s Glasgow concert has complained that it was ‘woke and all gay’. Which apparently came as a surprise to him. Maybe he’ll complain that Oasis are noisy, boorish and scruffily dressed in concert.

His comments sparked a wave of bemusement and joyful ridicule online. It would seem that the very fabric of Minogue’s concerts, which have long been celebrated for their celebratory atmosphere and inclusive spirit, flew over Brian’s head – despite the fact that he had seen the star perform five times.

One user quipped, ‘It took Brian five concerts and hundreds of pounds to realise Kylie Minogue’s target audience is not straight men.’ Another chipped in, ‘Those four concerts with beer swigging straight men all over the gaff must have gone under the radar. Kylie a gay icon?! I’m stunned.’

Noah Fact Check Pro

The draft above was created using the information available at the time the story first
emerged. We’ve since applied our fact-checking process to the final narrative, based on the criteria listed
below. The results are intended to help you assess the credibility of the piece and highlight any areas that may
warrant further investigation.

Freshness check

Score:
8

Notes:
The narrative references a recent concert and current tour, which suggests it is relatively fresh. However, specific dates or recent developments are not highlighted, which could make it slightly less timely.

Quotes check

Score:
7

Notes:
While there are social media reactions referenced, specific quotes from primary sources are not fully verified. The quotes are presented as user responses, which may not be formally documented.

Source reliability

Score:
6

Notes:
The narrative originates from the Star Observer, which is known for its coverage of LGBTQ+ issues. However, the publication’s broader reliability in general news is not as well-established as major outlets like the BBC or Financial Times.

Plausability check

Score:
9

Notes:
The scenario involving a fan criticizing Kylie Minogue’s concert for being ‘woke and all gay’ and the subsequent reactions are plausible, given her strong connection with the LGBTQ+ community and the cultural context of her performances.

Overall assessment

Verdict (FAIL, OPEN, PASS): OPEN

Confidence (LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH): MEDIUM

Summary:
The narrative is plausible and appears to be relatively fresh, but lacks verification of specific quotes and could benefit from additional context about its timing. The source is somewhat reliable, but not as authoritative as major news outlets.
