A new documentary celebrating the life and work of gay photographer George Platt Lynes [pictured] is on its way. Peccadillo Pictures has announced the On Demand release of Hidden Master: The Legacy of George Platt Lynes, a documentary that shines a light on the life and impact of one of America’s pioneering openly gay artists. Scheduled to premiere in the UK on July 11, 2025, the film, directed by Sam Shahid, explores Lynes’ groundbreaking work, which has remained largely unrecognised for decades due to its explicit themes and queer content.

US Representative Eric Sorensen has called out Defense Secretary/Fox news anchor and major religious-based homophobe Pete Hegseth over his call to rename a US warship. The ship named after gay civil rights icon and – unlike Hegseth – navy veteran Harvey Milk was under scrutiny as part of a campaign of renaming and removing from the Trump administration. The USNS Harvey Milk was launched in 2021 as the first Navy ship to be named after an openly gay American.

Online game RuneScape has cancelled its traditional Pride Month celebrations for 2025.

This is apparently down to a decision by Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy. Internal communications from Bellamy reportedly indicated that the cancellation was due to increasing controversy surrounding LGBTQ+ content in gaming. He noted that the changing political and social climates had made such content perceived as ‘woke’ particularly risky. Bye then!

Keep an eye out for Sam Phillips, a 23-year-old gymnast who has embraced his identity as a Black queer athlete. Currently aiming for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles (if anyone is allowed into the US by then), Phillips is putting it out there, advocating for self-expression and encouraging others to embrace their identities. He’s also exploring acting and modelling opportunities.
