And for Heartstopper’s next trick… a movie!

And your next instalment of the adored gay coming-of-age romance saga Heartstopper, will be… a feature film!

The Netflix adaptation of the graphic novel series by Alice Oseman has been such a smash hit – largely with gay men but by no means exclusively – that Wash Westmoreland, the director behind movies like Still Alice and Colette, has been recruited to make a big-screen splash with the as-yet unpublished sixth book in the series.

We can expect our favourites Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke) to be front and centre with both actors also taking on exec producer duties – yeah, we know it’s often just a way of getting actors on board, especially when they’re doing as well as Connor, who’s not only on Broadway in Romeo & Juliet but also stars in Warfare, at a cinema near you checks watch around now!

Oseman put out the sort of ‘grateful’ comment that you’d expect but, as filming has yet to begin, there’s still no word on whether the likes of Olivia Coleman from the series will sign up for the movie.

But finishing off a series with a movie is nothing new in this world. Looking, the Russell Tovey series about a group of gay men rocking around San Francisco did it as did Sex and the City… Mind you, they came back so never say never.
