MUBI has unveiled the trailer for ‘Queer’, directed by Luca Guadagnino, set for release in the UK and Ireland on 13 December 2024.

The ensemble cast includes notable actors such as Daniel Craig, Drew Starkey, Oscar nominee Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman, Henrique Zaga, and Omar Apollo. Further cast members include Andra Ursuta, Andres Duprat, Ariel Shulman, Drew Droege, Michael Borremans, David Lowery, Lisandro Alonso, and Colin Bates, ensuring a diverse and talented group of artists bringing the story to life.

“Queer” boasts a screenplay by Justin Kuritzkes, known for his work on “Challengers”. Acclaimed musicians Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross provide the film’s score, adding to their impressive portfolio including “The Killer”, “Bones and All”, and “Mank”. The film’s striking visuals are crafted by cinematographer Sayombhu Mukdeeprom, whose previous work includes “Call Me By Your Name” and “Suspiria”. Editing is handled by Marco Costa, and the costumes are designed by J.W. Anderson.

Set in 1950, “Queer” follows William Lee, an American expatriate in Mexico City, whose solitary existence is interrupted by the arrival of Eugene Allerton, a fellow expatriate and former soldier. Their meeting signals the possibility of forming a meaningful and intimate relationship, a first for Lee in the bustling city.

The film has already made its mark internationally, with its US premiere taking place in the Spotlight Gala slot at the New York Film Festival and a UK premiere as a Special Presentation at the BFI London Film Festival on 17 October 2024.
